Today Governor Asa Hutchinson announced that Arkansas schools will close from tomorrow, March 16, until March 27 to slow the spread of the Coronavirus. We too will follow this mandate. This is an effort to minimize the risk to students and our community at large.
Our plan is to designate March 16 through March 20 as spring break. Then we will designate March 23 through March 27 as alternative methods of instruction days. Thereafter we will evaluate the rest of the school calendar. Parent teacher conferences previously planned will be postponed and scheduled for a later date.
If you are a participant in our Partnering for Eternity (PFE) program, please suspend senior mentor visits at this time. We will give you further information on this program next week.
Our hearts go out to each family affected by this virus. We also understand the implications that school closures have on our community. Our prayers are with those families who have to find childcare because they still must work. Also praying for families who struggle. As a community please remember to check on your neighbor, help with childcare or food where you can and if you are in need, please reach out. Your school community is here for you.
In closing I want to share a favorite scripture of mine, 'The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life, of whom shall I be afraid?' Psalm 27:1
May God hold you and your families close during this time. I invite you to contact me anytime by phone or email at OAS.Elementary@Gmail.com.
