From the Principal: Dear Parents, Please wait in line at the end of the school day for a staff member to call your student's name. Many of you are parking your cars in the parking lot and not being recognized. Please get in the car line and patiently wait for Mr. Swinyar or another staff member to call your student's name.
Also, there are a lot of parents coming into the school at the end of the day. When parents go into classrooms and are talking while student names are being called it is hard for the students to hear. Please wait until 3:10 pm Mon – Thur and 2:10 pm on Friday to go into the school. If you have a student in Mrs. Kay’s classroom then please stay in the hallway until the bell rings to go into the classroom, (3:00 on Mon – Thur and 2:00 on Fri) Thank you for helping us out with this matter.
PreK, Kinder, 1st & 2nd Grade: Ellen White wrote in the book Education, “The object of discipline is the training of the child for self-government. He (the child) should be taught self-reliance and self-control.” Marie Montessori wrote, “We call an individual disciplined when he is master of himself, and can, therefore, regulate his own conduct when it shall be necessary to follow some rule of life. Such a concept of active discipline is not easy either to comprehend or to apply.” Our second goal this year is to learn to discipline ourselves. (The first goal is to Love God and each other well…Love BEARS all things!). When that goal is reached your children will be free to advance in every subject area. We are practicing a lot of new procedures (that require self-discipline)! Research says it takes 8 repetitions to create a new habit but 28 repetitions to break an old one (20 to unlearn the old one and 8 more to create the new)!
Show and Tell is every Friday morning. Please help your child remember a family story, something about a pet, or a family outing or trip. Items that go along with what we are learning about in school are also appropriate. Second graders are learning about horses in reading. Pre-K, Kindergarten, and First grade children are starting a book about farms. Everyone is learning about the 7 continents.
Memory Verse next week will be: When someone sins, he earns what sin pays—death, But God gives us a free gift—life forever in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23
We are practicing being “In Service” (rather than “Out of Service”). Yesterday Kindergarten, First Graders, and Second Graders picked up trash at Henry’s Park in Siloam Springs. Thank you to Reed’s mom for contacting drivers for our trip to the park. Thanks to Zack’s mom, Wyatt’s mom, and Trenton’s grandma for driving too! The water and granola were awesome! Thanks Kriens and Guntharps! We are glad you are “In Service”.
We are planning to go to Tired Iron (weather permitting) next Friday. Please remember to leave car seats for all pre-k and kindergarten children. Please let me know if you can drive for us.
READ READ READ! Reading is so important! Listening to your child read daily helps them build a solid school foundation that will affect them throughout the rest of their school experience. eading Logs are due every Friday and are worth 75 points. First and second graders need books they can read without help from you (maybe a word or so per page). Mrs. Sutherland - PreK-2nd
